The Shift Manager enthusiastically supports and contributes to the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant's World Class Manufacturing (WCM) program and tools. This position is responsible for improving safety, quality, delivery, cost savings, and employee morale in a team-based environment. The Shift Manager will lead a cross-functional team in daily activities, problem solving, root cause analyses, and maintaining or improving quality and throughput while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and providing a safe working environment for employees. The Shift Manager also conducts routine audits and verifications to confirm completion of written/documented processes, procedures, and activities. He/she will ensure quality and operation systems are implemented and functioning per standards, re-establish ideal conditions in the case of system failure or non-conformance and plan the scheduled/ unscheduled maintenance while maintaining quality and throughput levels. The Manager will facilitate communication between departments, lines, and internal suppliers; teach, cultivate, and implement teamwork, lean manufacturing, and problem solving in a positive, proactive work environment; and actively support the World Class Manufacturing production system.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7 years of supervisory production/maintenance experience in manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor employee team members
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products
  • Experience working in union environment
  • Strong background in LEAN manufacturing
  • Paint experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical field
  • Advanced degree
  • Experience working in union environment
  • Strong background in LEAN manufacturing
  • Powertrain/assembly/stamping experience
