The MGA General Ledger Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing general accounting activities and monitoring non-productive inventory for all U.S. and Canadian Assembly and Component plants. This position performs month-end accounting close activities, including JV approval and account reconciliation review. Other responsibilities include support operating teams with accounting related issues, federal tax package and government reporting preparation, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements and supporting business process redesign initiatives impacting SAP and FCA legacy systems as required. The GL Specialist directs the activities of an offshore 3rd party service provider team and acts as liaison to our plants and Mexico accounting staff. Special projects and continuous process improvement activities will also be assigned.

During this assignment, the Specialist job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Gain knowledge of non-productive inventory accounting and government reporting experience
  • Understand plant payroll, utilities, purchased service, and other operational activities
  • Gain supervisory experience working with a 3rd party service provider
  • Gain exposure to Plant Finance Controllers, Material Logistics Management, and Corporate Accounting leadership

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and/or a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA)
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in Accounting or Financial analysis
  • Proficient with PC based application and accounting software applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access)
  • Experience with SAP and SOX
  • Good working knowledge of accounting principles, exposure to tax accounting is helpful
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Accounting
  • CPA or other accounting designation
