The Controls Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining stable and capable production/business processes as they pertain to equipment functionality and machine/equipment capabilities as they relate to safety, throughput, quality-equipment integrity, and monitoring and correcting related issues of assembly/production/machining lines.The Controls Engineer will plan, test, and coordinate the implementation of preventive actions in the production lines in order to establish and verify capable and stable production processes in terms of safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Work with maintenance supervisors to evaluate, implement and obtain approval for program changes, work with IT group to modify and/or update machine/assembly PLC programs and communication programs as they relate to plant network. Investigate and resolve issues associated with machining equipment, assembly automation, work stations, robotics, and automated equipment. Maintain and update controls documentation, including schematics, and or documents for machining, assembly, maintenance, PM's. Troubleshoot PLC controls with electrical components, servo-drives, drives, motors, wiring - cables in cable trays and panels. Review and make PLC program changes on Siemens, Fanuc, Rockwell and other machining PLC programs. The selected candidate will capture and document changes and update prints etc. Lead, coordinate, and facilitate trouble shooting electrical issues and problem resolution issues as they relate to equipment downtime, throughput improvement, or any safety concerns -- interlocks, switches. Provide assistance to troubleshoot and make improvements on all electrical equipment using input from production, maintenance supervisors, tradesmen, operators, vendors, and service providers. Establish, maintain, update and administer electrical control plans. Participate in all aspects of simultaneous engineering efforts to improve current processes and new projects. Monitor and improve performance of production processes with respect to cycle time, uptime, FTC. Generate, prepare, and present regular reports to both internal and external stakeholders. Perform any related tasks as needed and work closely with full maintenance group, trades and supervisor.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Strong computer skills must be proficient in MS Office
  • Knowledge and experience with automated production equipment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Basic English language competency required
  • Must be self-directed and willing to work any shift
  • 2 or more years manufacturing experience in automotive assembly and or machining
  • Proven programming experience with Siemens, Transline, Profi Bus, or similar groups
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Siemens S7 Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Basic German language preferred
