Industrial Engineering Supervisor Job, Detroit, MI

The Industrial Engineering Supervisor is responsible for supervising plant industrial engineers and will report to the plant Industrial Engineering Manager. The person in this position will interact with management to develop hourly and salary staffing plans and lead actions to achieve productivity objectives. The selected individual will interact with production management and union leadership daily about all matters relating to staffing requirements and support development of direct and indirect labor budgets with corporate industrial engineering teams. The Supervisor is also responsible for indirect labor studies, ergonomics studies; and manpower planning, leveling, and adjustments according to assembly plants' production schedules; file maintenance of TiCon and AMPS recordkeeping; Workplace Organization and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) support; and new program system design reviews and optimization.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 4+ years of industrial engineering experience in a high paced manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional leadership skills with previous supervisor/mentoring experience
  • Demonstrated experience with time/motion studies, development of standardized work and standard data 
  • Demonstrated ability to apply throughput improvement processes
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of traditional lean manufacturing systems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Experience working in a unionized environment of hourly and salaried bargaining unit employees
  • Data collection, root cause analysis and practical problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles
  • MTM-UAS Blue Chip certification (or equivalent i.e. MOST or MODAPTS)
  • Knowledge/experience with TiCon 
  • Knowledge/experience with AutoCAD
