The FCA Quality organization is currently seeking a solutions-oriented Chief Inspector to join the Quality team at the Mack Engine Plant in Detroit, MI. The Chief Inspector will manage cross-functional teams and gain valuable experience / knowledge in a broad spectrum of powertrain automotive engineering, manufacturing, and quality. The candidate must be a high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions -- a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style, and demeanor, effectively sells ideas and solutions to others. Moreover, this person must have unquestioned integrity.

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring and improving the health of the quality system, supporting the manufacturing goals for quality performance
  • Overseeing day to day operations of a production Quality crew
  • Working with the quality leaders and business unit leaders on short term quality counter measures/containments and problem solving
  • Managing all equipment qualifications, pre-launch activities, and engine testing Scheduling and approving department overtime
  • Reporting the health of the business to upper management
  • Working with engineering to develop and implement corrective actions for chronic issues
  • Plan, prioritize, set goals, and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment
  • Display effective communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
  • Establish partnerships both internally and externally and to influence without direct authority
  • Commitment and dedication in delivering a premier product to the consumer
  • Represent the "Voice of the Customer" to the platform teams
  • Drive team success by clarifying expectations and minimizing political hurdles
  • Demonstrate unwavering commitment to delivering results and champion achievements
  • Exhibit a willingness to do things differently and consistently translate ideas into actions that deliver results
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Industrial Management, Operations, Quality, or Manufacturing
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience
  • Experience in problem solving techniques
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and logically prioritize
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Ability to work a varied schedule as needed including weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Powertrain experience
  • Error mistake proofing, Green Belt
  • Strong root cause analysis skills, ability to use data to identify and resolve issues
  • Good knowledge of GD&T and SPC
