The Transmissions Virtual Analysis Engineer is responsible for performing functional assessment of transmissions, axles and driveline components, subsystems and systems using virtual analysis tools. The Engineer will work closely with transmissions / driveline release groups, powertrain integration, suppliers, offshore CAE teams and other functional groups to proactively identify issues, develop solutions and meet program performance objectives and timings. The Engineer will follow established methodologies, identify future improvements in analysis capability as well as develop new methodologies. The chosen candidate will use commercial CAE tools such as, Masta, Transmission3D, Kisssoft, Adams, Abaqus and Nastran. Experience in analyzing gear, shaft and bearing systems is desirable.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in automotive powertrain subsystems such as clutch systems, torque converter, park systems, gear-trains, and driveline systems (academic or industry)
  • Experience in using CAE software like Masta, Transmisison3D, Kiss-soft, Nastran and Abaqus
  • Knowledge of torque and power flow in trans/axle driveline
  • Experience in structural mechanics
  • Experience in designing and developing transmission and axle driveline components and sub-systems
  • Knowledge of developing technical requirements for components
  • Ability to perform fundamental mechanical engineering calculations
  • Capable of working independently and in teams
  • Capable of managing multiple on-going projects and ability to coordinate projects with global teams and suppliers
  • Demonstrated problem solving and leadership skills
  • Candidate must be self-motivated and have excellent written / oral communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in engineering is preferred
  • Experience in torsional dynamics
  • Strong analytical and technical background
  • NVH background
  • Test and design experience in transmissions 
  • Knowledgeable about automotive engine, transmission, or drivetrain requirements and function
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Knowledge of casting, forging, machining, general manufacturing processes and overall understanding of transmission functions (mechanical, hydraulic, etc.)
