The Transmission and Driveline Systems CAE Engineer will primarily be responsible for developing and working with hybrid and conventional automatic transmission and axle models (RWD/FWD/AWD) of varying levels of fidelity to generate loads and duty cycles, and evaluate durability of rotating components using various software tools such as Matlab/Simulink, Amesim, and GT-Suite. The engineer will be responsible for working closely with Quality & Reliability Engineering and Stress Lab, to develop digitized models of proving grounds and test schedules that would be used to generate the duty cycles for hybrid and conventional powertrains and assist in harmonizing these duty cycles across various proving grounds. The engineer will also be responsible for developing and/or improving standard processes to perform these analyses, and for training other engineers in the use of these tools and processes. The selected candidate will be expected to work closely with other virtual analysis engineers, as well as design release and test engineers, to provide production support and in general, enhance existing processes and simulation methods.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical or related engineering field from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in using of Matlab, Maple, or other similar mathematical software, applying it to solving problems in the industry
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience using CAE software such as Nastran, Abaqus, ADAMS, or equivalent, to solve problems in the industry
  • Ability to work with large amounts of real world drive cycle data and reducing them to rotating moment histograms or other duty cycles
  • Knowledge of drivetrain (conventional and hybrid) rotating component duty cycles and durability calculations
  • Strong problem solving ability with good written and oral communication skills
  • A sound knowledge of basic engineering principles and a willingness to learn advanced concepts and engineering principles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering in an area related to simulation and/or powertrain
  • C/C++/Matlab programming background
  • Knowledge of optimization, vehicle dynamics, multi-body dynamics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
