FCA is creating a new transmission controls organization that is responsible for developing the controls algorithms and software for FCA's future transmissions. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers interested in helping build a new organization from the ground up. We are looking for seasoned transmission & controls leaders to join us on this exciting adventure.

The Transmission Management Systems Manager will lead a cross functional team which is dedicated to the design, development, and verification of purchased and in-house developed transmission control systems which includes Controls/Software/Hardware. He/she will also be responsible for delivering purchased and in-house developed transmission management system to our vehicle teams. Interactions in this position cut across virtually all organizations within the Company. The Manager is also expected to model positive leadership behaviors and mentor engineers and supervisors to help the organization grow in capability and throughput. This person will be seen throughout the organization as a model of integrity and ethical behavior. Strong leadership is critical; the individual must be able to drive both behaviors and results to ensure success throughout the organization.

The Transmission Management System (TMS) Manager must:

  • Have strong Project Management skills to employ and mentor others in execution focused PM
  • Be skillful in cross functional team problem solving and have strong knowledge of all the functional areas that are supporting the team in development of transmission management systems
  • Evaluate project level situations, make hard decisions for the good of the program and meet program objectives
  • Exhibit strong leadership presence by engaging Senior Management as necessary to ensure project objectives are achieved and remove barriers where appropriate
  • Support future strategy and planning meetings to support the Powertrain Roadmap
  • Have leadership and organizational skills: He/she must be a team player, supporting and promoting team accomplishments versus personal achievement, with a proven ability to drive change and bring projects to fruition through influence and collaboration across the organization in a highly fluid environment
  • Demonstrate the flexibility of knowing when to push the boundaries and drive organizational change and when to shift direction
  • Demonstrate strong intellect and sound judgment - The ideal candidate will be a person of stature who has the experience, intelligence and self confidence that will engender trust and respect with Senior Management, engineering peers and related groups

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, accredited by ABET
  • 10+ years of experience in automotive controls and software/hardware development
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in transmission controls design and development and/or powertrain systems engineering
  • Process-oriented and capable of establishing and implementing strategic initiatives and leading change

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Engineering or Master of Business Administration, accredited by ABET
  • Understanding of Powertrain controls, software/hardware development
