Our Transmission Controls and Diagnostics Development Team has an opportunity to provide exciting and challenging assignments to experienced transmission control algorithm development engineers in the following areas: Clutch-to-clutch automatic transmissions, variable force and pulse-width modulation, solenoid clutch control, architecture torque converters, integration of transmission and driveline controls into Powertrain, overall transmission, on-board diagnostics, failsafe, and reliability. The typical duties for the Transmission Controls Integration Engineer are to design and develop transmission control algorithms. Create requirements for implementing these algorithms into transmission software. Perform verification and validation of these algorithms using Hardware-in-the-Loop and on the vehicle. Establish and execute design verification plans for control logic development. Conduct design failure mode effects analysis for control logic changes. Support transmission hardware improvements and cost reduction efforts through control logic development. Support transmission calibration efforts by contributing to calibration guide development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of experience, however, an advanced degree and/or academic research in a related field may count towards experience requirement
  • Subject matter experience in one or more of the areas listed above
  • Good overall knowledge of transmission control systems
  • Experience in standard controls tools, modeling/simulation/development/testing/validation
  • Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • A quick study, but one who is not afraid to ask for the help and support of the team
  • Will be a self-starter who can work cross-functionally with other organizations
  • Highly motivated individual who is also a self-starter
  • Knowledgeable in micro-controller hardware and embedded software
  • Must be able to work with multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical and controls)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • A knowledge of "C" programming language utilized in embedded code
  • A knowledge of MATLAB / Simulink
