The Transient Emissions & Fuel Economy Engineer will be responsible for coordinating testing across multiple test cells in full powertrain as well as engine-only transient test applications. Coordinate test plans with Powertrain Product Engineering teams to optimize emissions, fuel economy, driveability and associated hardware development & calibration activities, coordinate test schedules, analyze data and cell upgrades to meet associated test plans. The Engineer will plan and coordinate day- to-day activities of a full powertrain and/or engine-only test cell, including interaction with technicians and support engineers. The successful candidate will interact with PTPE Product Engineering teams to utilize engine/powertrain dynamometers to make fundamentally based data driven hardware and calibration decisions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree
  • Working knowledge of full powertrain & engine-only dynamometer test cell equipment, instrumentation, and operations
  • Prior experience with the development and calibration of spark ignition engines, powertrain systems development; or an advanced degree, academic research or a previous internship/co-op in a related field
  • Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data
  • Fundamental knowledge of internal combustion engines
  • Working knowledge of engine analysis and calibration tools, emissions regulations, engine technologies and competitive products
  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Calibration process knowledge using design of experiments and advanced optimization techniques
  • Proficient in advanced simulation tools
  • Proficient in Matlab / Simulink
