The Technical Training and Knowledge Manager is responsible for identifying, planning, executing, and assessing all technical training delivered to the STAR Agents, including new-hire assessment testing, Performance Institute course delivery, and ad-hoc component and systems training opportunities. The Manager will oversee the workload distribution and schedules of the technical trainers. The role requires continual monitoring of each individual Agent's training plan and coordination with our business partner both to schedule delivery of appropriate courses and to maintain the highest levels of training within each skill area, while ensuring workforce coverage is maintained during STAR Center operating hours. She/he must stay abreast of any curriculum changes within Performance Institute and incorporate them into the Agents' training plans. Specific to Knowledge Management: The Manager develops processes for capturing, organizing, and sharing successful repair guidance among STAR Agents, which will be maintained by directing the Content Author employees who report to the Training and Knowledge Manager.

Specific job responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Assessing the technical training needs of STAR Agents
  • Prioritizing/scheduling course offerings to maintain highly trained Agents in each Skill Area
  • Managing relationship with Performance Institute and off-site training location for course delivery
  • Arranging necessary space, tools, vehicles, and presentation materials for course delivery
  • Working closely with business partner to ensure new hire Agent training is effective
  • Consulting with Skill Area Leads to identify ad-hoc training needs of each team
  • Directing course distribution among training instructors; coordinating their travel locations/dates for class attendance for certification training
  • Driving consistency on proper case handling and terminology
  • Directing and evaluating work of STAR technical trainers and Content Author employees
  • Developing process for documenting and sharing new repair guidance information among Agents
  • Delivering technical training courses to STAR Agents, Master Consultants, Skill Area Leads, and new Technical Trainers
  • Organizing course delivery schedule to accommodate for STAR Center workforce planning
  • Engaging FCA Global Commodity Managers to develop and arrange ad-hoc training opportunities
  • Providing input on STAR Center Policy and Procedure documentation and changes

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Technology, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3 years of work experience as a technician in a dealership and/or experience delivering automotive technical training
  • Ability to interact effectively with various personality types
  • Strong communication skills--written, verbal, and platform
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity and ease with office automation programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of service diagnostics procedures
  • Must possess an unrestricted driver's license

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of the retail dealership business environment
  • Strong communication, organizational, consulting, and negotiations skills
  • Experience in presenting ideas and concepts to all levels of management
  • ASE Master Certified--Automotive
  • Experience with Performance Institute's Operations, Systems, and Processes
