FCA is creating a new transmission controls organization that is responsible for developing the controls algorithms and software for FCA future transmissions. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers interested in helping build a new organization from the ground up.

The TCC and Line Pressure Control Supervisor is responsible for providing technical leadership in developing torque convertor and line pressure controls. The Supervisor is also expected to model positive leadership behavior and mentor engineers to help the organization grow in capability and throughput.

We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic leader to use cutting edge control strategies to produce TCC and line pressure controls for 8 and 9 speed transmissions, current "in house transmissions" including 62TE and 68RFE. In this role, the Supervisor is responsible of leading a team of experts in TCC and line pressure controls, overseeing/managing the development and implementation of TCC and line pressure controls strategies using a physics based approach. The candidate must be able to apply, promote and facilitate physics model-based development within the organization and he/she should be familiar with the industry's transmission clutch control strategies.
A successful candidate should be familiar with the following:

  • SIL, MIL, and HIL
  • Plant models used to create control solutions
  • Integrated powertrain control (torque characterization, engine/transmission interactions, powertrain optimization strategies)
  • Driving strategy
  • Shift controls
  • Driveline system control
  • Diagnostics and vehicle electrical systems 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, as accredited by ABET or ABET
  • 8 years of total work experience, with a minimum 5 years applying transmission controls expertise
  • Knowledge in program management
  • Strong people skills: Positive 360 interactions and strong communication, written and oral
  • Knowledge in TCC and line pressure controls (TCC adaptation, TCC Slip controls- including micro slip, lockup engagement and full lockup strategy, TCC versus Temperature, TCC versus Grade and Gear operation, Line pressure controls strategy, Controls theory- closed loop and open loop controls)
  • Safety/knowledgeable in ISO26262
  • Demonstrated potential to lead, inspire and deliver
  • Adept at communicating technical issues, both verbally and written

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA and/or Master's degree in Engineering, as accredited by ABET or ABET equivalent; other undergraduate level technical degrees in the specific area of relevant specialty expertise may be considered
  • Effective experienced based or analytical problem solving ability
