Supervisor - Rear Suspension and Powertrain Mount CAE Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Supervisor Rear Suspension and Powertrain Mount CAE is responsible for the durability/strength/stiffness CAE simulation activity for rear suspensions and powertrain mounts across all vehicle programs. This Supervisor and the team will plan, coordinate, and execute the tasks required for a successful design and development of rear suspension and powertrain mount components. The team will provide design guidance and risk assessments, conduct CAE reviews, and interact with architecture, design and test engineers. In addition, the team will be responsible for improvements in process (SOPs), tools and methods for rear suspension and powertrain components.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Structural/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Five years of experience in durability FE simulation
  • Experience dealing with cross functional (durability, safety, NVH, Aero...) issues
  • Five years using FE Software Nastran or an equivalent non-linear solver to analyze durability performance of structures
  • Five years using Fatigue codes such as Design Life, FE/Fatigue, FEMFAT, and/or LMS Virtual
  • Five years using FE Software ABAQUS to analyze durability/strength performance of structures
  • Good understanding of the application of finite element methods to chassis and powertrain components
  • Good understanding of non-linear finite element theory as applied to chassis and powertrain components
  • Excellent understanding of fatigue theory as applied to vehicle components or other engineered structures
  • Demonstrated ability to map the physics of real world problems into the simulation world

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in structural mechanics or related field
  • Experience using LS-Dyna
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability to teach others
  • Good problem solving ability
  • Good knowledge of vehicle structures
  • Good knowledge of fundamental physics and structural engineering principles.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience leading teams and solving complex issues.
  • Should be proficient in use of Microsoft Office products
