The Steering Technical Lead is responsible for developing and managing technical documents related to Electric Power Steering development. The Steering Technical Lead will work with Product Engineers to prepare initial steering system designs. The Steering Technical Lead will take part in the development and validation of EPS gears for all FCA vehicles to ensure adherence to technical specifications. Technical Lead will be responsible for ensuring the proper documentation and storage of steering system core documents (DFMEA, DVP, and PPAP) and will continually update and harmonize steering EDPs, PFs and SOPs. Technical Lead will also be required to support vehicle launches and daily production concerns at FCA assembly plants and/or supplier facilities to help with the implementation of robust steering systems designs and solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent
  • 5 years of chassis steering/suspension engineering design and development experience
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to manage and track steering/suspension design
  • Ability to set targets, evaluate/identify gaps to existing targets, and lead solution activity
  • Strong knowledge of steering architectures and principles
  • Demonstrated passion to work in the auto industry
  • Experience with statistical tools and analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Engineering
  • Experience with problem solving such as Red-X
  • Experience with robust design such as DFSS
  • Ability in NX/TeamCenter
  • Familiar with standard and document management
  • Possess strong skills with DFMEA and DVP&R
  • Experience with steering systems and ADAS technology
  • Familiar with assembly plant power tools required for various fastener joining
  • Experience with FCA release systems
