The Body Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Supplier Quality functions. The SQE will provide on-site launch support at suppliers' facilities to ensure launch readiness as required, leading up to and including program launch. They will also be responsible for managing post launch continuous improvement activities and provide on-site support at FCA assembly plants as required. The Engineer will also be responsible for working cross functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing to ensure proper designs, suppliers, and supplier's manufacturing processes are selected. Typical parts may include closures, hardware and sealing commodities.

Within the Supplier Quality Engineering role, we ask that our engineer's drive change within both plant manufacturing and component suppliers to resolve complex component issues. It is the SQE's responsibility to ensure suppliers' processes are robust and capable to meet part design requirements and vehicle development milestones. Overall, the SQE will lead all problem-solving activities with internal and external organizations, drive warranty reduction and ensure best practices/lessons learned are applied across the commodities and suppliers in the deck.

Job responsibilities for a Body and Exterior Supplier Quality Engineer include but not limited to:

  • Perform supplier quality systems and process audits and lead supplier improvement/development programs
  • Establish close relationships with assigned suppliers and actively drive continuous improvement activities
  • Initiate and follow-up on corrective actions and verify effectiveness on-site
  • Participation in launch teams, lead and coordinate APQP/PPAP deliverables for purchased components within the supplier quality group
  • Assist in educating suppliers on FCA systems and requirements
  • Lead and support supplier APQP and PPAP activities to ensure all deliverables are being fulfilled
  • Work with Engineering, Purchasing and Supplier organizations to alleviate discrepancies in product specifications and evaluate cost reduction opportunities


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in quality, engineering, production, manufacturing, or related field
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
  • Knowledgeable in GD&T
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Creative problem solving ability and results orientated
  • Ability to travel within the NAFTA region

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in related field
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification (Shainin, KT, Six Sigma)
  • Quality certification (QE, QE Mgr.)
