The Senior Manager-Transmission Controls and Software Development will be responsible for transmission controls and software development for all existing and new transmission products at FCA. This includes the Physics Model Based Development for the 8/9 speed transmission, which currently is being developed with the support of FCA suppliers, and that will transition back in house for continued development and maintenance. This position will be responsible to build a highly capable Transmission Controls and Software Team, to harmonize in the utilization of the most efficient and effective controls and software tools, and to satisfy customer expectations of quality, timing and cost.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Building a highly capable Transmission Controls and Software Organization
  • Provide the necessary technical guidance and structure for all FCA transmission products
  • Accountable for the development of software controls, and for the transitioning of products and processes from suppliers
  • Escalate issues that cannot be resolved at the Senior Manager Level to the Director
  • Approve engineering changes and provide technical pre-approval
  • Ensure consistency amongst programs and implement best practices
  • Review and approve Powertrain bulletins and investigations
  • Development and management of budget
  • Review and approve functional, financial, quality, and supplier sourcing targets and deliveries
  • Publish Sub System Technical Specification documentation
  • Maintain a big picture view and look for opportunities for improvement
  • Promote possible patents as a result of product innovation
  • Develop timing and costs in response to customer requests for product changes
  • Support benchmarking of competitors to address product refinement that is consistent with the business strategy
  • Collaboration with customers both internally and externally to develop stronger working models 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Science) from an ABET accredited university
  • 10 years' experience in managing and setting goals for a large engineering team
  • Strong knowledge in transmission controls and software development
  • Strong understanding of Controls and Software development, tools and processes
  • Strong knowledge of Autosar and Functional Safety
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Comfortable interacting with Senior Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Engineering
  • OEM background and knowledge
