Senior Manager - Powertrain Virtual Engineering Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Powertrain Virtual Engineering Senior Manager is responsible for leading multiple groups within the Powertrain Virtual Engineering Department to provide design and analysis solutions in various powertrain system areas such as mechanical, thermal, structural, combustion, electrification. The Manager will use a strong understanding of the fundamentals to proactively develop and deliver design solutions for various powertrain systems and components prior to any hardware based development in close collaboration with various partner organizations (design, release, controls, calibration, etc.).
Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Providing strategic vision and direction
  • Developing new capabilities and processes
  • Resource management and work assignments
  • Oversight of critical projects
  • Communicating with upper management on critical issues
  • HR and people development
  • Collaboration with other powertrain and vehicle engineering groups 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Engineering
  • 15 years of engineering experience including 5 years in Powertrain and 5 years with Virtual Analysis
  • 5 years of experience in leading large engineering teams
  • Broad experience in simulation and simulation led design in various areas such as: thermal, structural, combustion, dynamics, control systems related to engine, transmission, driveline, electrified powertrain, powertrain-vehicle integration
  • Strong leadership and strategic skills
  • Ability to manage a diverse global team
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD/additional Engineering degrees
  • Degrees/training in multiple disciplines including one in mechanical engineering
  • DFSS Green Belt
  • Experience in design, release, controls, calibration
