Senior Buyer - Aluminum Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Senior Buyer Raw Material- Aluminum buyer is responsible for managing all commercial, operational and strategic requirements for $243M of annual spend. The ideal candidate will be responsible for contract negotiations, maintenance of contract repository and all purchase order maintenance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develop annual budget, which includes productivity and economics; support Finance and Treasury in development of raw material corporate forecast; develop commodity strategy for NAFTA that aligns with the overall global strategy for the commodity; insure supplier compliance to all FCA requirements for quality, delivery and service.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field or Bachelor in Engineering from an ABET accredited University
  • Must have 4.5 years of related professional experience in commercial negotiations, sales or supplier development
  • Must have experience working with Metallic Suppliers either in a commercial or quality capacity
  • Must be well organized, self-motivated, and resourceful managing complex situations
  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and can effectively interface with cross functional teams and all levels of senior management
  • Strong communication and commodity leadership skills
  • Must be proficient using MS office programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Master's degree in Business Administration
  • Experience in the Automotive or Steel industry and simultaneously managing multiple commodities
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think and act strategically
  • Raw material purchasing experience including direct interaction with raw material suppliers, either in a procurement or manufacturing capacity
