The Seat Structure Engineer will be responsible for design and development of seat structure systems including back frames, cushion frames, stanchions (assemblies, sub-systems and components) with integration of adjusters/recliner systems. The Engineer will lead the system design/development of the seat structure to meet quality, performance, CWI and functional objectives as well as develop and author design practices, lessons learned, DFMEA's, DVPR's for structure and structure sub-systems. The selected candidate will work up front with the Vehicle Architecture team to determine packaging feasibility. The Engineer will also work directly with Seat Integration Engineering for final packaging execution to meet all requirements. Job responsibilities may include new structure development and/or current production structure development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 years of interior product design and development engineering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in seating and/or seat structures or mechanisms design/ development, or related experience in seating or other similar experience, from concept to launch
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve results
  • Demonstrated communication skills at several levels and collaborative skills
  • Strong MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Assembly plant or seat launch experience
  • Experience with assembly of structure components and build process
  • Strong technical knowledge of seat structure, or mechanism design, assembly, and tooling
  • Proven ability to lead and resolve complex system problems
  • CAD capability (NX) or VisView
  • Experience with DVP&Rs, DFMEAs
