The Seat Integration Development Lead will be responsible to lead the synthesis and development of complete seat systems and to meet quality, comfort, craftsmanship, and functional design and build objectives for seat systems. The Lead will perform up-front feasibility assessment with the Advanced Vehicle Engineering and Product Design office for new programs, develop and maintain design practices, lessons learned, DFMEAs and DVP&Rs for seat systems. The selected candidate will lead engineers/designers in seat system development/releasing to ensure preferred practices are utilized in new designs and verify manufacturing/assembly feasibility with Supplier Quality Engineering. This position is key to assuring that all program milestones, deliverables, and targets are met for the seat system including cost, weight, and investment. The roles and responsibilities also include but are not limited to: leading supplier technical reviews for supplier sourcing; resolving plant related Issues with urgency; reviewing compliance reports, owner's manuals and service manuals; leading management design reviews; developing technical descriptions for cost estimates; validating technical cost reduction ideas; conducting commodity benchmarking; support engineer performance assessments.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
  • 8 years of experience in engineering design and development, from concept through launch
  • 5 years of experience in seat engineering design and development
  • Demonstrated experience with industry practices for seat systems and regulatory requirements related to seats
  • Proven ability to lead and resolve complex system issues
  • Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills
  • Assembly plant and seat launch experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience with seat design and integration
  • Reactive and DFSS Green Belt
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to lead and direct a cross-functional engineering team
  • Strong technical knowledge of seat systems design and tooling
  • Experience with design for assembly of seating systems and components and build process
  • Program management experience in automotive seating
