The Seat Comfort Engineer is responsible for developing comfortable seats for FCA group vehicles. The Seat Comfort Engineer will lead the seat system design/development to meet quality, comfort, and functional design objectives. The Engineer will conduct comfort ride and drives, clinics, and publish results based on statistical analysis. The selected candidate will develop, support, and author design practices, lessons learned, DFMEA's, and DVP&Rs for comfort and will work closely with the foam and trim team. The Engineer will work up front with the Product Design Office by providing the comfort guidelines to enable the seat styling and lead the DFSS project to optimize the comfort and craftsmanship, as well as, lead and document global standardization and harmonization for comfort. The Seat Comfort Engineer will guide engineers and designers in the seat team during foam and trim design to ensure preferred practices are utilized in new designs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited university (other degrees in combination with relevant experience may be considered)
  • 5 years of overall automotive design and development experience
  • 3 years of experience in the areas of seat design, seat integration, testing and/or development (Including phases from concept development to product launch)
  • Technical knowledge of seat comfort, foam, trim, structure and mechanism design considerations
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Strong MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience within seat design and development specific to seat comfort, foam / trim and craftsmanship
  • TeamCenter/CAD capability (NX)
