The Release Engineer of Driveline Systems will direct the design, development and validation of P4 eAxle Gearbox Sub-System and AWD Driveline components in compliance with durability, cost and manufacturing criteria. Included in the component release responsibilities are those activities required to support the analysis and resolution of warranty claims, and implementation of cost reduction initiatives. The candidate will successfully interact and communicate eAxle Gearbox Sub-System and AWD Driveline Engineering requirements to Program Management, Vehicle Integration, Procurement and Supply, Supplier Quality, and associated engineering organizations. He/she will define and develop subsystem level functional objectives. The engineer will prepare formal documentation as required by each program to include source packages, DVP&R's, PAP's, LRP's, and related program management documents. Lead simultaneous engineering activities with the supplier and affected vehicle engineering teams for vehicle programs. The candidate will lead and participate in FMEA activities both in-house and at the supplier and define component and vehicle system interfaces and support packaging confirmations. The engineer will participate in design and process reviews with the supplier and review design engineering calculations. He/she will coordinate and assist in the development of validation plans with the supplier and internal reliability organizations. The engineer will participate in warranty reviews, and support resolution of product quality issues and assist in the analysis and resolution of NVH related issues. The engineer will manage product changes as required to support product improvement and cost reduction initiatives and maintain EBOM for P4 eAxle Assembly.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an (ABET) accredited university
  • Technically oriented with solid understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles
  • 6 years minimum design release experience in Powertrain, Driveline, Transmissions, or other geared product designs
  • Working knowledge of the following tools: Function model, DFMEA, DVP&R, PPAP systems, Strong analytical capabilities, Capable of analyzing complex data and providing a clear summary, Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills, Strong verbal and written communications skills, Ability to work independently and in teams, and ability to manage multiple on-going project tasks
  • Must have a valid driving license

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with 8 to 10 years' experience in design and release of Electrified Powertrain Driveline Components/Sub-Systems
  • Strong Knowledge and Understanding of Chrysler Release Systems
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including casting, forging, powder metals, machining, and assembly
  • Familiarity with CAD and FEA software would be a benefit
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Electrical/electronic engineering knowledge Specialty course work in transmission and driveline related subjects of particular interest (gear technology, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, etc.)
