The FCA Quality organization is currently seeking a solutions-oriented Quality Reliability Engineer to join the Quality team at the FCA US Headquarters & Tech Center in Auburn Hills, MI. The Quality Reliability Engineer is responsible for the identification of high risk systems and components early in the vehicle development program and applying the appropriate risk mitigation techniques. This position will be responsible for ensuring launch readiness of new technologies within specified vehicle program timelines. The position is also responsible for ensuring that lessons learned from past experiences are institutionalized in current engineering processes.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitation of Proactive Reliability Risk Assessment Process on assigned systems and components
  • Design and facilitate testing and validation methodology
  • Facilitate DFMEA DVP development
  • Support the institutionalization of Lessons Learned from Regulatory, Warranty, and other sources through updates to core documents such as Engineering Specifications, DFMEA's DVP&R's, and Design Best Practices
  • Be the single point of contact and applications of, and revisions to, several different engineering specifications and multiple support documents
  • Plan, prioritize, set goals, and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment
  • Strong communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
  • Establish partnerships both internally and externally and to influence without direct authority
  • Commitment and dedication in delivering a premier product to the consumer
  • Represent the "Voice of the Customer" to the platform teams
  • Demonstrate unwavering commitment to delivering results and champion achievements
  • Exhibit a willingness to do things differently and consistently translate ideas into actions that deliver results
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment
  • Identify reliability improvement initiatives for assigned systems and components

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical engineering
  • Experience in product development, quality, or reliability engineering
  • Experience working with or leading diverse teams (e.g. global, cross-functional, union/union represented, etc.)
  • Experience in either Electrical, Engine Systems, or Interiors
  • Basic understanding of vehicle systems, their components and functions
  • Basic computing skills covering standard office software
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presenting to various types of audiences
  • Good understanding of reliability methods

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Systems Engineering, Statistics, Reliability, or a related field
  • 3 years of experience in Product Development, Quality, or Reliability Engineering
  • Certified Quality or Reliability Engineer
  • Six Sigma Certification, Design for Six Sigma or Robust Engineering certification (Black Belt, Green Belt)
  • Familiarity with quality measurement methodology, warranty analysis, and third party metrics (Consumer Reports, J.D. Power)
  • Experience in Manufacturing or Supplier Quality
