The FCA Quality organization is currently seeking a solutions-oriented Quality Engineer - Minivans and CUVs to join the Quality team at the FCA Headquarters and Tech Center in Auburn Hills, MI. The Quality Engineer - Minivans and CUVs is responsible for vehicle programs currently in production (post-launch) and all quality aspects relating to corporate competitive scorecards (warranty, CQI, etc.) and assessment of third party metrics (Consumer Reports, JD Power, etc.). Reporting to the Manager-Model Responsible Quality (MRQ), a preferred candidate will have experience in cross-functional management and possess a broad knowledge of the entire automotive engineering, manufacturing, and quality landscape. This individual will also be expected to be assertive with a high intensity approach to work -- a self-confident leader utilizing his/her personal presence, style, and demeanor to effectively communicate issues, sell ideas, formulate solutions, and hold others accountable. Moreover, this person must have unquestioned integrity.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Resolution of warranty issues (via electronic corporate/global issue management systems) associated with vehicle design, manufacturing, and customer expectations
  • Assess, respond to, and ensure delivery of to third party metric data/targets
  • Management (ordering, updating and disposition of quality issues) for internal vehicle testing programs
  • Provide support/content input for the development of quality presentations to senior leadership as directed by the MRQ
  • Work closely with production unit leaders and manufacturing quality team to stratify, prioritize, and resolve quality issues on the assembly plant floor
  • Serve as engineering quality point of contact on the minivan and crossover vehicle platforms
  • Plan, prioritize, set goals, and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
  • Commitment and dedication in delivering a premier product to the consumer
  • Represent the "Voice of the Customer" to the platform teams
  • Contribute or drive team success by clarifying expectations and minimizing political hurdles
  • Demonstrate unwavering commitment to delivering results and champion achievements
  • Exhibit a willingness to do things differently and consistently translate ideas into actions that deliver results
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in a technical engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical, Chemical, etc.)
  • 5 or more years automotive related design, development, manufacturing, or quality experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated root cause analysis skills
  • Self-starter with exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines, and utilize efficient organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the application of problem solving tools
  • Familiarity with third party quality metrics and quality information systems
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including stamping, machining, welding, brazing, riveting and assembly
  • Broad-based familiarity with overall vehicle systems
