The FCA Quality organization is currently seeking a solutions-oriented Quality Engineer - Customer Satisfaction Team to join the Quality team at the FCA US Headquarters and Technology Center in Auburn Hills, MI. The Quality Engineer - Customer Satisfaction Team is responsible for quality improvements within base engine for vehicles in the marketplace as driven by third party sources and warranty claims submitted by the dealer network. The selected individual will manage cross-functional teams and gain valuable experience / knowledge in a broad spectrum of powertrain automotive engineering, manufacturing, and quality. The candidate must be a high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions -- a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style, and demeanor, effectively sells ideas and solutions to others.

Organized into cross-functional teams, it's a unique FCA division consisting of manufacturing, engineering, and supplier quality department members who work together to solve product quality issues and reduce warranty claims. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, prioritize, set goals, and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment
  • Display effective communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
  • Establish partnerships both internally and externally and to influence without direct authority
  • Commitment and dedication in delivering a premier product to the consumer
  • Represent the "Voice of the Customer" to the platform teams
  • Drive team success by clarifying expectations and minimizing political hurdles
  • Demonstrate unwavering commitment to delivering results and champion achievements
  • Exhibit a willingness to do things differently and consistently translate ideas into actions that deliver results
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment
  • Interface and coordinate issue resolution with cross functional team (Parts Specialist, Engineering, Assembly Plants, Supplier Quality and Suppliers)
  • Provide an independent confirmation of the design, test, manufactured and purchased component processes
  • Gather warranty claim from dealership network to determine root cause of quality issues and develop corrective actions as warranted
  • Review process issues of manufacturing facilities to ensuring quality initiatives are maintained
  • Initiate corrective actions pertaining to engineer design, procedures or policies for permanent resolution

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering from an accredited university (other Bachelor's degrees, in combination with relevant experience may be considered)
  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience in any of the following: Engine design, development or test, quality experience, engine or vehicle plant assembly, or engine calibration
  • Cross-functional problem-solving experience Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing or Quality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering 5 years engineering, quality, or manufacturing experience related to base engine
  • Strong knowledge of base engine
  • Reactive Green Belt or Reactive Black Belt training
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and program management skills
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise influence without authority
  • Demonstrates initiative, the desire to drive change and is motivated to exceed expectations
  • Possesses competent computer skills (MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - experience with Minitab applications is a plus
  • Communicates effectively at all levels
