The FCA Quality organization is currently seeking a solutions-oriented Product Development Quality Engineer to join the Quality team at the Chrysler Headquarters and Tech Center in Auburn Hills, MI. The Product Development Quality Engineer is responsible for all quality aspects on current and/or future model specific programs relating to corporate competitive scorecards, assessment of third party target metrics (e.g. Consumer Reports, JD Power), and warranty issue resolution. The selected individual reports to the Model Responsible - Engineering Quality and will have experience in managing cross-functionally and possess a broad knowledge of the entire automotive engineering, manufacturing, and quality landscape. The candidate must be a high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions -- a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style, and demeanor, effectively sells ideas and solutions to others. Moreover, this person must have unquestioned integrity.

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Resolution of warranty issues (via electronic corporate issue management system) associated with vehicle design, build, and testing
  • Development/assessment of 3rd Party targets (Consumer Reports, internal resources, JD Power)
  • Management (ordering, updating, issue disposition) of internal vehicle testing programs used to collect vehicle data
  • Providing support in the development and content presentation to senior leadership in support the business as directed by the MRQ
  • Ensuring delivery of third party metric targets
  • Planning, prioritizing, setting goals, and managing multiple projects in a technical and business environment
  • Displaying effective communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
  • Establishing partnerships both internally and externally and to influence without direct authority
  • Commitment and dedication in delivering a premier product to the consumer
  • Representing the "Voice of the Customer" to the platform teams
  • Driving team success by clarifying expectations and minimizing political hurdles
  • Demonstrating unwavering commitment to delivering results and champion achievements
  • Exhibiting a willingness to do things differently and consistently translate ideas into actions that deliver results
  • Possessing strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace/Aeronautical, Biomedical/Biomechanical/Bioengineering, Chemical, Civil, Materials)
  • Automotive related design, development, quality experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong Root Cause Analysis skills
  • Ability to work a varied schedule as needed including weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5 years of automotive related design, development, quality experience
  • Familiar with 3rd party Quality metrics (i.e. J. D. Power, Consumer Reports)
  • Previous experience with new vehicle launches
  • Familiar with overall vehicle systems
  • Working knowledge of quality information systems
  • Ability to collect and synthesize data into meaningful information and communicate clearly to all levels of the organization
