Product Design Engineer - HVAC Control, Sensors and Heated Seats Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Product Engineer for HVAC control modules, sensors and heated seats will be working with suppliers and other engineering areas to develop and define specifications and requirements for HVAC control and heated seat features. This will include writing and reviewing detailed specifications, design practices, end of line testing specifications, software process documents and interface component documents for the HVAC and heated seat systems. The Engineer will work with HVAC design release, software, calibration and system teams to develop and write these requirements. The selected candidate will interface with other FCA departments (Electrical Engineering, Human Machine Interface, Powertrain) and global regions to develop harmonized requirements for advanced and future vehicle programs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or Computer Science from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 6 years of automotive industry experience including design experience in embedded control systems
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), control plans and agile software development
  • CAN/LIN bus knowledge and/or circuit analysis experience
  • Experience with CAD tools - NX or TeamCenter
  • Experience using proactive quality tools (Design for Six Sigma)
  • Experience using reactive quality tools (Kepner-Tregoe / Shainin)
  • Automotive assembly plant and/or program launch experience
  • Self-starter and motivated to produce results
