The Transmission Controls and Diagnostics Development Team has an opportunity to provide exciting and challenging assignments to experienced transmission control algorithm development engineers in the following areas: Automatic transmission OBD diagnostic strategy, developing software requirements in accordance with the diagnostic strategy, validating software implementations, releasing OBD diagnostic calibrations for corporate as well as purchased automatic transmissions, overall transmission on-board diagnostics, failsafe, and reliability.

The typical duties for the Transmission OBD Diagnostic Engineer are:

  • Develop transmission diagnostic requirements
  • Interface with supplier to support the diagnostic strategy
  • Maintain consistency of diagnostic strategy across several transmission types
  • Populating OBD calibrations into production templates using PowerCal
  • Releasing OBD calibrations for corporate and purchased automatic transmissions
  • Creating calibration compares and writing DVPnR's for change approvals
  • Create certification documents and identify impact on emissions from diagnostic changes
  • Supporting Design FMEA's for control logic changes
  • Validating OBD/diagnostic calibrations for FCA automatic transmissions
  • Supporting dynamometers for automatic transmission and system validation

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of experience, however, an advanced degree and/or academic research in a related field may count towards experience requirement
  • Good overall knowledge of transmission control systems
  • Subject matter experience in one or more of the following areas: standard controls tools, modeling/simulation/development/testing/validation
  • Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • A quick study, but one who is not afraid to ask for the help and support of the team
  • Will be a self-starter who is able to work cross-functionally with other organizations
  • Highly motivated individual who is also a self-starter
  • Knowledgeable in micro-controller hardware and embedded software
  • Must be able to work with multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical and controls)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree 
  • A knowledge of "C" programming language utilized in embedded code 
  • A knowledge of MATLAB / SimuLink
