The Systems Engineer for the Transmission Development Lab will work in a diverse lab environment with support activities ranging from supporting mechanics who build up development transmissions, to developing test procedures for transmission testing on dynamometers. The selected candidate will be primarily responsible for supporting the torque converter area which includes dynamometer test cells as well as other torque converter test equipment. Daily duties will include test schedule development, test cell troubleshooting, and ensuring the test cells and equipment are functional and meeting our customer's requirements. The selected candidate will work closely with other lab support engineers in a team environment within the Transmission Development Lab. 

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  •  Manage overall torque converter testing activities and conduct strategic planning for future testing needs
  • Support root cause analysis of dynamometers and test stands to ensure timely implementation of corrective actions to maximize test cell and test stand efficiency
  • Review and support the integration of new test equipment throughout the lab
  • Provide documentation and reports for tests as specified by product engineering
  • Prepare test schedules to meet program timing objectives and milestones
  • Coordinate facilities and instrumentation needs with the overall Powertrain Test and Analysis organization

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a powertrain testing environment
  • Strong knowledge of test system controls
  • Excellent knowledge of data collection and analysis
  • Profound ability for effective diagnosing and root cause analysis
  • Ability to remain impartial/unbiased/objective in decision making
  • Self-starter with the inherent ability to follow through
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Adapts quickly to new situations and reacts professionally
  • Ability to motivate others in a working environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Formal problem solving training
  • DFSS experience
  • Knowledgeable in common tools (TDCI, INCA, I-Box, DCplot, MatLab, CDA, CAN Communication)
