The Powertrain Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Supplier Quality functions. The Engineer will provide on-site launch support at suppliers' facilities to ensure launch readiness as required leading up to and including program launch, also to manage post launch continuous improvement activities. Provide on-site support at FCA assembly plants as required. The Engineer with be responsible for working cross functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to ensure proper designs, suppliers, and manufacturing processes are selected. Drive change within both plant manufacturing and component suppliers to resolve component issues. Ensure component suppliers' processes are robust and capable. Manage key component quality milestones. Lead problem solving activities with internal and external organizations. Manage warranty with their suppliers, ensuring Lessons Learned is applied across programs. Would you like to take on assignments with a high level of responsibility?

Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Perform supplier quality systems and process audits and lead supplier improvement/development programs
  • Establish close relationships with assigned suppliers and actively drive continuous improvement activities
  • Initiate and follow-up on corrective actions and verify effectiveness on-site
  • Participation in launch teams, lead and coordinate APQP/PPAP deliverables for purchased components within the Supplier Quality group
  • Lead and support supplier APQP and PPAP activities to ensure all deliverables are being fulfilled
  • Team up with Engineering and supplier to alleviate discrepancies in product specifications and evaluate cost reduction opportunities
  • Work environment, which is characterized by an agreeable teamwork atmosphere, clear structures, direct approaches, and open dialog

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Chemical, Biomechanical, Metallurgical, Mechatronics or Biomedical Engineering from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited program
  • Superior written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability and freedom to travel when and if necessary
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering or other advanced education
  • Certification in multiple disciplined problems solving methodologies
  • Work experience with powertrain calibrations
  • Work experience with controls software or software engineering
  • Experience teaching in classroom or on the job environments
