This Powertrain Structural Engineer is responsible for performing durability CAE assessment of engine cylinder head, block, main cap, oil pan, front cover, FEAD, pumps, valve cover, intake, exhaust, gasket sealing and other engine components using virtual analysis tools. The Engineer will work closely with engine release groups, manufacturing, powertrain integration, suppliers, offshore CAE teams and other functional groups to proactively identify issues, develop solutions and meet program performance objectives and timings. The Engineer will follow established methodologies, develop future improvements in analysis capability and document new analysis procedures. The chosen candidate will use commercial CAE tools such as, Hypermesh, Meshworks, Simlab, Abaqus, FEMFAT, nCode, Isight and Tosca.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Engineering
  • 5 years of CAE engineering experience on durability/sealing in automotive powertrain components such as: engine, transmission/driveline and electrified powertrain
  • 3+ years of experience using CAE software Hypermesh, Meshworks, Simlab, Abaqus, Nastran, nCode and FEMFAT
  • Must have powertrain structural durability/fatigue, thermal, gasket sealing or manufacturing simulation experience
  • Excellent written/oral communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated technical problem solving and method development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Engineering
  • Five or more years of experience in using Abaqus and fatigue software
  • Strong analytical and technical background in durability/fatigue, sealing or manufacturing
  • Good overall knowledge of internal combustion engine/powertrain or electrified powertrain
  • Experience in engine experimental/Dyno tests
  • Good skill in programming with commercial software (e.g. Visual Basic, Visual C++, Python script or Matlab Simulink)
