The Manager of Engine Calibration is responsible for leading a group of Engineers to calibrate a state of the art engine platform achieving program attribute commitments. The Engine Performance Development and Calibration Manager ensures that the work is managed through direct reports to achieve all specified FCA group customer fuel economy, performance, and emission requirements. The primary function is dynamometer based, but will also encompass vehicle validation of calibrations.

The manager will plan resources, timelines and monitor the work of a group of 6-12 Engineers performing engine hardware selection, performance, fuel consumption, and emissions development. Ensure that the products meet specified functional objectives at check points of the product development cycle. The selected candidate will report progress to goals, issues, and risks to senior level management in concert with the Chief Engineer, provide employee performance feedback at yearly reviews and ensure consistent and high level of quality work during engine hardware development and dynamometer base engine calibration development

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum of 7 years accumulated experience in engine development, base engine calibration, or powertrain systems development
  • Thorough understanding of internal combustion engine fundamentals
  • Understanding of powertrain controls and engine calibration methodologies
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Master of Science in Chemical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited university
  • Prior experience with the development and calibration of direct injection spark ignition engines
  • Prior experience using simulation to develop calibrations and hardware
