The Paint Process Specialist will be responsible for managing the Pretreatment and Electro-deposition (PT/ED) process area for new vehicle programs. The Specialist will develop as well as implement short and long term strategies and policies to facilitate meeting or exceeding FCA quality /efficiency goals. The person in this position works closely with numerous related departments within the organization such as Environment Health and Safety, Materials and Corrosion as well as the manufacturing plants. The Specialist also represents paint operations in many forums such as IH Reviews or Plant Launch Meetings. This position works closely with the skilled trades and production team members to improve performance and quality systems within the PT/ED process. The Specialist supports paint operations in connection with, World Class Technology (WCT) and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) initiatives such as Early Equipment, Autonomous and Professional maintenance, Work Place Organization, Logistics and Focused Problem Solving.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5+ years paint manufacturing process experience OR
  • High school graduate with 8+ years paint manufacturing process experience
  • Knowledge and/or experience in PT/ E-coat, sealer application & materials, powder/prime & topcoat prep and finesse processing & materials
  • Experience supervising Engineers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in paint manufacturing processes
  • 5+ years of automotive OEM paint and/or paint shop sealer experience
  • Knowledge of PFMEA 
  • Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Focused Problem Solving
