The System Development Lead will lead a group of engineers and specialists through the design and development of base and/or PHEV systems. Responsibilities include the development of standards as needed, design best practices, and core engineering documents. The Lead will guide engineers and specialists while working closely with designers, CAE groups, engine calibration, EE systems engineers, suppliers and manufacturing to design components and systems to ensure robust designs for function and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining the system architecture, components/systems interfaces, performance specifications and development issues resolutions.

 

This position requires interaction with engine calibrators, EE system engineers, test labs, suppliers, quality organization, manufacturing plants, and purchasing. The successful candidate will also be responsible for all facets of assigned components including source package technical specifications, design, validation, supplier sign-off, cost/weight/investment targets and warranty. The Lead will lead engineers to develop and carry out Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) to ensure that functional objectives, durability and reliability goals are met. The successful candidate will have experience with key fuels and powertrain systems components, systems thought process and a solid understand of how they work as part of the fuel storage, delivery and emissions control systems. The preferred candidate will have a basic knowledge of software, controls, calibration, and diagnostics that govern these systems.

 

 


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum of 8 years of design, development or release experience within fuel systems, 4 of which in PHEV systems
  • Experience with plastic components, metal stampings and castings, and tube forming at Tier 1 or OEM
  • Excellent communication skills, independent thinkers with proven problem solving skills
  • Excellent leadership skills, capable of leading suppliers and team members to develop robust designs that meet program milestones

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • 2+ years of EE and/or powertrain systems experience
  • Experienced in Urea systems
  • Experienced in evaporative emissions
