Modeling and Development Supervisor Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The major role of this position is to lead modeling and development work on the HIL. The candidate must be a strong team leader with, systems focused interdisciplinary experience and expertise, and willing to work in a fast-paced environment. The Supervisor is expected to interface with various teams to drive implementation of various advanced projects on the HIL. The supervisor will be working with global teams for HIL development and HIL Tools development. Other responsibilities include conducting benchmarks, evaluating new HIL technologies, interfacing with suppliers, working with teams on processes, methodologies and tools, projects and resource management.

Other duties include:

  • Proactively drive / propose process/tool improvements; maintain HIL roadmap
  • Capture and understand customer requirements
  • Interface with Global HIL team
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and developing team members
  • Provide ongoing feedback on performance to team members, including yearly reviews of direct reports
  • Maintain professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other suitable degree related to Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the automotive industry
  • Demonstrated technical problem solving
  • Experience with HIL modeling/simulation/development/testing/validation
  • Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Strong facilitation, mentoring, and coaching skills with ability to work directly with individuals and groups
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong project coordination and planning skills
  • Strong experience leading teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
  • Self-starter who can work cross-functionally with other people
  • Good understanding of the development of embedded software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other suitable degree related to Engineering from an accredited university
  • Thorough understanding of HIL
  • Thorough understanding of developing embedded software
  • Thorough understanding of gasoline and diesel engines, electrified powertrain
  • Flexibility - must be able to adapt to changing environment with minimal effect on productivity
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of management
  • Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK
  • Experience with 0-D and 1-D physical modeling tools such as GT Power and Flowmaster
