Material Flow Specialist Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Material Flow Specialist will be responsible for documenting, constructing, and improving internal material flow plans for stamping operations. This position will spend a considerable amount of time within the manufacturing facilities working with the production control group on improving overall material flows as well as planning and implementing new material delivery processes. This position will also be tasked with implementing World Class Manufacturing methodologies that improve the safety and efficiency of the material delivery process.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Spearhead the development of ideal stamping/BIW layouts for material delivery
  • Develop circles of work for indirect logistics manpower
  • Create storage strategy and calculate space and dock requirements
  • Determine material handling equipment requirements for new programs
  • Work with external logistics on inbound/outbound material flow strategy
  • Drive LEAN packaging and display requirements which support the operator
  • Support WPI/OTP activities for new programs
  • Ensure that all applicable FCA best practices and standards are implemented
  • Ensure all WCM safety and ergonomic requirements are met
  • Understand and execute WCM/WCL processes for new model launches
  • Prepare and present program status updates to plant production control and senior management

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in material flow engineering and implementation
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem solving skills
  • Experience with static material flow applications
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Must be able to interface fluently with all levels of plant and corporate personnel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FactoryFLOW or Proplanner experience
  • Experince with dynamic material flow applications
  • WCM/WCL experience
  • Experience in Industrial Engineering
