The FCA Quality organization is currently seeking a solutions-oriented Manufacturing Quality Strategy and Field Coordinator Lead to join the Quality team at the Chrysler Headquarters and Tech Center in Auburn Hills, MI. The Manufacturing Quality Strategy and Field Coordinator Lead is responsible for managing a strategy / audit group and a group of field coordinators. The strategy team is responsible for benchmarking, development, implementation support, and auditing of common quality strategies and strategic initiatives across all powertrain plants that align and support WCM methodologies. The QSM and his team also support the global powertrain manufacturing team in developing global standardized quality system processes. The field coordinator team acts as liaisons between the powertrain manufacturing plants and vehicle assembly plants. They are responsible to investigate assembly plant issues, resolve disputes, perform assembly plant audits, support all PRI activities, assist in expediting pulls from the vehicle assembly plants, develop and validate vehicle rework / repair procedures, etc. The candidate must have proven track record for developing and leading strong teams. The Lead must be a creative problem solver, proactive and steadfast in the identification and resolution of powertrain quality system/process issues, and in the pursuit of continuous improvement opportunities. The ideal candidate will have experience in powertrain manufacturing, powertrain advanced manufacturing, and quality processes / systems experience, and possess outstanding teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills. The candidate must be a high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions that can sell ideas and solutions to others.

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, lead and implement quality initiatives with internal teams focused on improvement of overall product and process quality at all powertrain manufacturing plants
  • Plan and prioritize and manage multiple projects, multiple teams, in a technical and business environment
  • Determine project urgency and prioritization, create action plans / PDCA's, and insure execution is completed on time
  • Exhibit a willingness to do things differently and consistently translate ideas into actions that deliver results
  • Provide creative thinking to the analysis of systems and the identification of new opportunities
  • Manage resources to resolve launch quality issues and manage continuous improvement activities
  • Develop and maintain a launch quality tracking strategy using benchmark process information
  • Lead without direct authority
  • Serve as the conduit for transparency of high risk issue
  • Build partnerships both internally and externally
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (other 4 year technical degrees in combination with relevant experience may be considered)
  • Minimum 10 years of quality and powertrain manufacturing experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Quality system fundamental knowledge base
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Strong communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering. quality or other relevant field
  • Structured problem solving training and experience
  • Powertrain advance manufacturing experience
  • Experience with implementation of new processes and systems
  • Background which includes hands-on accomplishments in delivering expertise and solutions
