The Manager - NAFTA Standardization Development will be responsible for managing the technical development of 'Standardization Plans' for Body, Interior, Electrical, Engine Systems, Chassis, and Restraints groups. The Manager will lead global teams through the creation of comprehensive plans to ensure the competitiveness of major modules and components, coordinating benchmarking, technical solution, regulatory compliance, and sourcing. The selected candidate will deliver to Global Steering Committee plans which document the targeted savings in new program spending for tooling investment, ER&D, variable cost, and quality.


Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited university
  • Ten years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of business principles
  • Strong time management, planning, and follow up skills are key, along with superior written and oral skills
  • Experience with the total life-cycle of the vehicle engineering process from concept through launch phase should be demonstrated
  • Deep knowledge of automotive product development -- its phases and deliverables; roles/responsibilities of Purchasing, VCE, SCIE, Systems & Components, Product Planning, and PDO in the specification and development of modules/components; and manufacturing process and tooling, in order to analyze and optimize standardization plans
  • Experience in design/release of components vehicle launch experience
  • Ability to lead teams of engineers, buyers, etc. to consensus
  • Ability to consistently apply broad principles in specific applications across all systems of the vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering (MSME or MSEE) or Business Administration (MBA)
  • Green/Black Belt certification in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
  • Ability to develop and analyze business cases and present recommendations to senior management
  • Strong leadership skills to help manage and lead individuals and teams that are not direct reports
  • Past knowledge and experience in Standardization Plans development, also in the PD Units or other, is preferred together with attitude and familiarity to work in global teams
