Launch Engineer - Controls Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Launch Engineer will be responsible for providing electrical engineering support during design, installation and launch of new program manufacturing equipment as well as writing specifications and interacting with contractors and project teams. The Launch Engineer will ensure all equipment purchases are compliant with Fiat Chrysler NAFTA Controls standards, state and federal codes. The person in this position will track equipment build and resolve controls issues from the equipment design phase through the installation. The Engineer manages documentation, software and final deliverables, including hand-off to Vehicle Assembly Plants, and implements IT applications and part traceability requirements as outlined by Manufacturing Engineering.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree OR
  • High School Graduate with 3+ years manufacturing experience
  • 5+ years' experience in controls engineering, maintenance or related field
  • Proficient with PLC, Motion Controllers and HMI programming
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of management
  • Ability to work any shift and/or overtime as needed
  • Available to travel both domestic and international to FCA NAFTA plants
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8+ years' experience in controls engineering, maintenance or related field
  • Proficient in the following listed communication protocols and software packages strongly desired:
    • Communications: Ethernet TCIP, Ethernet IP, DH+, RIO, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Sercos, Profinet, RS232 and/or RS422 Serial
    • Software: Rexroth - PPC Visual Motion, Rockwell - RS Logix 5, RS Logix 5000, RS Linx, RS Networx, Factorytalk AssetCentre, GML, RSView, Panelview/Panelview Plus. AutoCad, and/or Siemens-Profinet
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Project, Excel, Word, Visual Basic and Outlook
