The Product Engineer -- Body in White is responsible for performing body shell 3D part development from concept through production launch. The Product Engineer will develop and apply requirement sections to existing and new body architectures to support full Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE) body development; support Studio Engineering by conducting feasibility studies using full set of KBE tools; and track and lead issue resolution activities within area of responsibility. The Product Engineer is responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing and production release of a Body-in-White system and/or components. Other responsibilities will include quality improvements, weight reduction, cost reduction and other efficiency improvement initiatives including communicating technical product status to management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years of automotive or related industry experience
  • Minimum of 1 years of design/development engineering experience in Body-Body in White, Closures, or Exterior systems
  • Knowledgeable in use of Catia V5 or Unigraphics NX and TeamCenter

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Teamcenter training
  • Good understanding of body engineering and design process, including dimensional and structural requirements
  • Self-starter and able to complete complicated projects without constant supervision
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibility and learn new methods and processes
  • Manufacturing or launch experience preferred
  • Previous experience engineering and designing product completely for both FCA and other, OEM's in Catia and NX
  • Strong leadership, communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Knowledgeable in regards to high strength steels, weld parameters and GD&T
  • Proficient in MS-Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
