The Interior Soft Trim Development Lead (DL) will lead component technical development from concept selection to commercial launch for Interior Soft Trim Components. The DL will support the development of component standardization, design harmonization, design practices, lessons learned, functional objectives, DFMEA's, DVPR's/PSI, and standards. The selected candidate will also review and approve technical content of related source packages, CN's, CCD's, & IAA's. Support the DRs in all resource coordination requirements and act as coach and mentor for the Interior Soft Trim Engineering Group for in-house design expertise and knowledge through educational training and hands-on instruction. The selected candidate must have an understanding to translate Voice of the Customer needs into engineering metrics.

Basic Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in components and systems development engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years in automotive interior soft trim components and systems development engineering
  • Demonstrated organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of part capability studies, statistical analysis, and FEA required Knowledge of NX, Team Center, MS Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent) or Masters of Business Administration
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Black Belt
  • Reactive problem solving (Red X, Shainin) (Green Belt)
  • Demonstrated soft trim technical expertise through patents in carpet, cargo, or acoustics areas
