Hybrid Battery Management Systems Software Release Engineer Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Hybrid Battery Management Systems Software Release Engineer will work with battery management system (BMS) hardware and software for use in electrified powertrains. Responsibilities include defining BMS requirements for software, control algorithms and diagnostics, developing and executing test plans, conducting supplier and OEM DFMEAs, establishing and tracking software release timing, ensuring compliance to FCA (Fiat Chrysler) standards, developing and tracking supplier and OEM validation and verification plans, tracking and troubleshooting issues and testing systems on benches and in vehicles.

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls, Systems, Chemical Engineering, Physics or related discipline at a nationally accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience with battery management system software and control algorithms
  • Prior experience with software development and diagnostics tools (e.g., HIL testers, CANalyzer, INCA, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink
  • Prior experience with electrical/electronic components used in BMS hardware
  • Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently
  • Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls, Systems, Chemical Engineering, Physics or related discipline at a nationally accredited institution
  • Fluent in Mandarin
  • Hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) powertrain (no cap) software experience
  • Experience with AutoSAR and AutoSAR concepts
  • Lithium ion battery experience
  • Two years of experience with development and testing of battery systems in hybrid and/or electric vehicles
  • Familiarity with OBD II and automotive diagnostics
  • Familiarity with CMMI/Spice software development process
  • Understanding of hybrid system fundamentals
