The High Voltage System Engineer will be responsible for design and development of Electrified Powertrain High Voltage Systems.

  • Support the development of vehicle and supplier component high voltage specifications
  • Generate high voltage (HV) system vehicle functional requirements, algorithm change requests and component performance standards 
  • Participate and contribute to Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) for multiple programs
  • Perform lesson learned and optimize existing process, tools, safety feature and strategy
  • Perform design verifications on HV features and strategies
  • Support the creation of vehicle documentation, such as First responder's guide, labeling, service manual and owner's manual 
  • Support the certification of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) requirements and Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) regulations
  • Perform benchmarking on competitors vehicles pertaining to HV systems strategy, packaging and safety measures.
  • Build and commission HV system verification properties: System bucks, tools, procedures 
  • Support and train first run team members on HV safety checkout in early vehicle builds
  • Problem solving HV system issues at the vehicle, system, component, hardware, software and the tool level

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Applied Physics, Systems, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited, or ABET equivalent university 
  • Minimum of 5 years in product engineering design and development, with emphasis on systems and product development 
  • Understand real-time systems, hardware and software 
  • Understand regulatory requirements, industry standards and recommended practices 
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Coordinate activities with cross functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, as accredited by ABET or ABET equivalent; other graduate level technical degrees in the specific area of relevant specialty expertise 
  • Great knowledge of electrification technology, functionality and features on the system level 
  • A self-starter 
  • Knowledge in electrical circuit analysis and simulation
  • High voltage safety experience with hands-on work on high voltage systems/components 
  • Experience with HV safety features including isolation, interlock loop, equipotential bonding.
  • Knowledge on FMVSS and ECE requirements
  • Knowledge on FCA assembly plant operations and overall development process
  • High voltage training and experience is desirable
