The GHG/CAFE Planning & Analysis Engineer plays a critical role in the fleet and vehicle compliance for Green House Gas (Environmental Protection Agency), Corporate Average Fuel Economy (NHTSA), and Zero Emissions Vehicle mandate (Air Resources Board) for the NAFTA region. Our team is the center of expertise within the company and we work cross functionally with Engineering, Brand, Planning, Regulatory, Design, Powertrain, Safety, Emissions and Supply Chain Management to assess viable solutions. A primary objective of the position is to perform cost analysis of all existing and future fuel economy technology actions. Working with Finance, Engineering and Advanced Powertrain; the selected candidate will develop a comparative measure of the cost versus fuel economy benefit for all fuel economy actions, and aggressively pursue implementation across vehicle architectures based on data driven analysis. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: preparing updates for monthly senior level management and developing presentations for many ad hoc and strategic reviews; working with competitive intelligence groups to compare our actions to those of our competitors, assessing the future state of the marketplace; and working with regulatory and vehicle teams to develop a method to optimize all fuel economy plans from a corporate and vehicle level cost standpoint. This position requires being responsible for several vehicles based on a common architecture. The selected candidate will be considered the subject matter expert in developing vehicle/powertrain actions that meet fuel economy targets. The candidate's input and presentations will be an integral part of executive decision making. This position has great exposure to understanding all facets of the global regulatory requirements that are reshaping our company and the industry.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Experience in excel-based modeling utilizing structured data-driven analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university, or an MBA
  • Knowledge of fuel economy regulations and actions to improve on passenger cars and light trucks
  • Prior co-op or internship experience in automotive or related industry
