The GD&T Design Tolerance Engineer is responsible for validating datum strategies, dimensional specifications and measurement plans for EE core components and assemblies. The Engineer will create and maintain dimensional variation analysis models representing the assembly process, tolerances, and CAD data used for the virtual assembly of a vehicle. Create reports, communicate results, issues, and recommendations to the customer. Interpret drawings for application in Tc Vis VSA models and reports recommendations. Reconcile component attachment strategies in a cross-functional team environment and assist in the development of GD&T and PLP CAD documentation and measurements plans per ASME Y14.5 standard. Perform tolerance stack-up analysis on selected components and systems and review and approve dimensional specifications and tools. Lastly, the Engineer will ensure that GD&T deliverables are met to support corporate milestones and will drive quality improvements through lessons learned strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET accredited university
  • A minimum of 6 years of GD&T experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in creating and interpreting GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • Demonstrated ability to perform 3D tolerance analysis and dimensional stack studies
  • Self-starter with strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Proficiency in NX8.5 CAD tool
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter that is highly motivated
  • Ability to organize a project - basic program management skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Teamcenter PLM experience involving vehicle systems design, vehicle assembly, sheet metal stamping and injection molding
  • Familiarity with quality control concepts, control plans and statistics
  • Green Belt in DFSS or studying to be a Green Belt in DFSS?
