Functional Integrator - Automated Driving Localization Map Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) advanced development Automated Driving team is actively searching for talent to fill an open position for an engineer specializing in Automated Driving Localization Maps. The selected candidate will be immersed in a hands-on role, working with state of the art technologies, in a field experiencing rapid year over year growth. This team and the selected candidate is responsible for developing the architecture and associated system level requirements to enable Highly Automated Driving functions at a level ready to be utilized as an "off the shelf" deployment into production vehicle platforms.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum of 8 years engineering experience in a related field
  • Working level knowledge of high definition lane level maps required for Highly Automated Driving inclusive of:
    • Mapping techniques
    • Competitiveness of available industry offerings/map data suppliers
    • Accuracy and types of attribute data and layering techniques
    • Geospatial location and triangulation theory and methodologies
    • Industry utilized data formats and communication protocols such as ADASIS, NDS, ProtoBuf, and SensorIS
    • Criticality of map freshness, and dynamic layers
    • Industry utilized data update methodologies inclusive of crowd source techniques and big data analytics
    • Working level knowledge of map data/update validation tools/techniques/methodologies
    • Vehicle to Cloud Connectivity methodology and business models
    • Map data scalability to manage low to high content vehicles
    • Qualitative measures to understand the reliability of map data
    • Sensor data analytics and corresponding parameters required to produce crowd sourced map updates
    • Management of dynamic short lived map data
    • Competitive industry features based upon E-horizon data sets 
    •           Working level knowledge of ground truth reference level sensors, dGPS, SLAM based map matching algorithms, visualization tools
  • Demonstrated ability to author engineering level requirements
  • Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills/experience  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Demonstrated experience with Dead Reckoning design theory
  • Working level knowledge of visual odometry and egomotion
  • Experience with machine learning techniques
  • Working level knowledge of CAN/Vector tools for data collection and analysis
  • Experience with driving vehicles at handling limits.
  • DFSS certification -- or participation in several projects start through completion
  • Experience with defining vehicle communication architectures
  • Familiarity with REST API, MQTT topics and corresponding interfaces
  • Experience in generating statement of work/scope documentation or responding to Request For Quotes
  • Familiarity with system level re-simulation (i.e. HIL or SIL)
  • Experience with automotive EDR (event data recorder) systems
  • General working knowledge and previous exposure to ISO26262, SOTIF, and Cybersecurity 
  • Critical Character Traits to Ensure Success:
    • Ability to think outside-the-box in high pressure situations
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Detail oriented problem-solver
    • Basic Qualifications:
