The Ergonomics Specialist, working as part of a cross functional team, will be responsible for providing technical support for new and current vehicle programs. This position will support the assembly plants and product launch teams for new vehicle launch and current operations. The person in the position performs virtual and physical ergonomic assessments using standard ergonomic analysis tools and/or Digital Human Modeling for the purpose of identifying and prioritizing ergonomic risk factors to comply with corporate guidelines and standards, to improve operator efficiency and quality, reduce costs and improve operator injury and safety. The Specialist will comprehend lessons learned and technical specifications to provide input into product design and manufacturing and must also understand vehicle assembly and associated processes.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform preliminary and secondary ergonomic evaluations using digital simulation and ergonomic analysis tools to identify risk and recommendations for resolution
  • Meet tight deadlines, strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to work independently and in teams
  • Lead technical teams and communicate practical recommendations effectively to all levels of the organization
  • Engage with plant ergonomic specialist to assist with implementing ergonomic solutions for current plant ergonomic issues and drive remediation of issues to product design and manufacturing engineers
  • Participate and lead ergonomic innovation projects
  • Lead productivity initiatives to reduce/eliminate non-standard operators 

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in ergonomics, human kinetics, kinesiology, human engineering or a related ergonomics field 
  • 2+ years' experience in applying ergonomic principles and providing ergonomic analyses in a manufacturing or academic setting
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency in primary and secondary ergonomic analysis tools
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g. PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, Excel)
  • Proficient in Siemens virtual assembly products (Classic Jack, Team center and/or Vis Mockup)
  • Strong analytical, technical and interpersonal skills
  • Possess practical and technical problem solving ability 
  • Ability to travel to FCA plants and suppliers as needed 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in ergonomics, human kinetics, kinesiology, human engineering or a related ergonomics field 
  • Professional Ergonomics designation (CCPE, CPE or equivalents)
  • Experience in manufacturing automotive/launch environment 
  • Ability to perform virtual simulations with use of interactive technologies such as motion capture suits
  • Proficiency in Process Simulate 
  • Experience working with union labor
