The Equipment Controls Engineer is responsible for coordinating and providing engineering support during planning, specification, design, installation and launch of new program manufacturing equipment. The person in this position will write specifications, requests quotes, prepares budgets and manages contractors and/or project teams. Additional responsibilities of the Engineer include reviewing and approving engineering design drawings of purchased manufacturing equipment as well as the equipment run-off, startup, debugging, qualification support and troubleshooting of that equipment. The ideal candidate is capable of tracking equipment build, timing and cost and can resolve equipment issues from the equipment design phase through the installation. The Engineer will also manage documentation, software and final deliverables including the hand-off to FCA US LLC plants. This position supports and implements World Class Manufacturing (WCM) requirements as outlined by Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Plant Manufacturing Engineering. The Equipment Controls Engineer maintains equipment engineering standards and design specifications and leads in establishing stamping equipment standardization objectives. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering OR High School Graduate with 5+ years' experience in Stamping equipment engineering, maintenance or related field
  • Knowledge of electrical schematic design, controls engineering, PLC programming and network management
  • Knowledge of stamping equipment systems and processes
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years' experience in stamping equipment engineering, maintenance or related field
  • Experience in fluid power design
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Visio and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics
  • Available to work flexible shift and overtime to support production
