The Engineer - Product Development is involved in design direction for present and future powertrain electrical/electronic end-of-line test systems. The Engineer will interface with product development and vehicle manufacturing areas to co-develop and integrate powertrain electrical systems with vehicle manufacturing end-of-line testing systems. He/she will coordinate powertrain interface requirements and validate powertrain systems in vehicle and will facilitate the development of powertrain electrical/electronic testing with vehicle manufacturing areas and product development teams for powertrain electrical control systems. The Engineer will coordinate end-of-line testing requirements documentation and hold reviews with product development areas and vehicle manufacturing development teams as well as gather testing requirements and provide definition for software control algorithms and will work with vehicle and releasing teams to resolve end-of-line testing related issues on vehicles.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of one year electrical system development experience
  • Familiarity with electrical systems test interface tools
  • Knowledge of CAN messaging structure & protocol for the CAN-Bus layer
  • Experience in capturing and analyzing bus messages with various CAN-Bus analysis tools
  • Understanding of Keyword versus Diagnostic Protocols

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of dynamometer based test systems
  • Programming experience in the following: C++, Visual Basic for applications, MatLab/Simulink
  • Pseudo-code modification, CANalyzer/CANoe/ CANdiva with CAPL Script 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills required along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle engine & transmission system
