Engine position determination and monitoring is at the heart of any engine controls system.

The Engine Synchronization Controls Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining the controls models/software requirement documents to meet the requirements defined by the engine synchronization systems engineer. The Engineer will work closely with the engine synchronization systems engineer and software engineers in a COE setting to develop the controls functionality. Additionally, the Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing the diagnostic controls for the timing drive system including cam/crank sensors, VVT phasers and OCVs and out of tolerance faults.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering, or Applied Physics
  • Engineering software/controls design or signal processing
  • Familiar with vehicle electrical systems, CAN communications, and architectures
  • Familiarity with microprocessor-based controls and development tools (emulators, debuggers, etc.)
  • Experience using ETAS INCA data capture and calibration tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 2 years of embedded C/C++ software experience (hand-coding) and/or auto-code experience with Simulink/embedded coder; however, an advanced degree and/or academic research in a related field may count towards experience requirement
  • 3 years of experience in engine position determination and monitoring
  • Controls or software engineering experience
